How were the CEE Legal Matters CEE Deal of the Year Award winners chosen?

The CEE Deal of the Year Awards are chosen through a unique two-tiered process. First, all firms are encouraged to submit deals for consideration, and all deals that meet basic qualifying criteria about dates and kind are forward to our Shortlist Panels, consisting of five prominent legal practitioners in each CEE market with a minimum of three submissions. Once their votes are received and calculated, the three deals receiving the most votes in each qualifying market are forwarded on to the Final Selection Committee — a 15-20 person jury consisting of regional experts from across CEE who are tasked with reviewing all shortlisted deals to vote. Members of the Final Selection Committee are not allowed to vote in markets where deals that their own firms worked on are shortlisted, nor in the specific markets where they are based. Once their ballots are received in mid-March, the votes are calculated and winners identified. The first announcement of winners comes at the CEE Legal Matters Annual Banquet, and advance information about the results of the voting is not provided to any firms working on deals under consideration.

Are Dealer’s Choice and the CEE Legal Matters Annual Banquet in Prague every year?

This is the first year for the events, so it is premature to talk about what will happen in the future. Prague was selected this year because it will also host the Annual 2018 GC Summit on June 7-8. That event, the largest event of its kind for senior in-house counsel in CEE, is now in its fourth year, and is expected to host some 300 in-house counsel. The two events were placed back-to-back this year to make it easier for participants who wish to attend (or sponsor) both. Firms wishing more information about sponsorship opportunities for the GC Summit are encouraged to contact Radu Cotarcea.

Is it possible to sponsor the Dealer’s Choice event or the CEE Legal Matters Annual Banquet?

Of course. Firms, vendors, and/or other service providers wishing to learn more about sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to contact David Stuckey.

Are special rates available at local hotels for participants at the events?

No special rates have been obtained yet, but we will provide this information on the event website as soon as it is available.
